Border guards from the "Vylok" border guard division of the Mukachevo border guard detachment detained three Transcarpathians who planned to swim across the Tysa River to reach Hungary.

Having paid a preliminary fee of $4,000 to the smuggler, the men received life jackets and a rubber boat, along with "instructions" on avoiding encounters with border patrols and waterproof packaging of personal belongings and documents in plastic. No one warned the swimmers about the danger of the fast, deep, and powerful current of the Tysa river. To prevent the "clients" from seeing the proposed water barrier, they were instructed to cross the border during the dark hours of the day.

Around 2 AM, about 800 meters from the state border, the men were discovered and detained by the border patrol.

Protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up against the Transcarpathians, and the cases were forwarded to court.

Currently, the operatives of the border guard detachment are identifying individuals involved in organizing the illegal journey of the men.
